Sesshoumaru - compliment by LadyD666 Sesshoumaru - compliment by LadyD666
ok so this is something i thought of doing as a last minute idea for my digital imaging class. the reason i chose my beloved Lord of the Western Lands is because i love him. he's my favorite character from Inuyasha and one of my top five bishies ^__^

*clears throat* anyway......

i used a complimentary color scheme because 1) blue and hues of orange kicks ass and 2) we had to use a color harmony for the paintings.

personally, this turned out better than i thought it would!

time to make: 4 hours, 30-something minutes
lineart: print paper, no.2 mechanical pencil, micron pigment liners
scanned: Mustek 1200 UB
program: Adobe Photoshop CS
hardware: mah computer and a MOUSE (booyah! you can make very nice artwork without a Wacom!)

That is awsome! :) Though I'm not familar with the anime in question(actually I am but I didn't like it after watching a few episodes for reasons that will probably go way off topic and make you fan geeks mad, so I won't go there), so I can't comment on how close you got to him/her/it(never can tell with anime sometimes, heh). It looks like a shot

When you did the original sketch, did you hand draw it or trace it from a source? Just wondering. If you hand drew the basic sketch from a blank paper, you must have had a lot of practice. :D I still have problems drawing lines straight, so I can't really draw any anime yet due to my inability to do all the smooth, clean linework. Though I do have a story that is so visual it would be best told as an anime/manga style comic book(it's all the Dreamsphere stuff that I've been drawing for like, the last half of the year now and am too lazy to scan/upload to my account :P ), so I'll probably force myself to learn to draw that style sometime in the future.

Fear my brackets of headache-inducing-lazy-staying-up-way-too-late-working-on-homework-and-not-feeling-like-editing-his-grammer-action. :P(I hope this doesn't break DA's display having such a long string of -s. Oh look, another bracketed thing. I like brackets. I've been up a bit too long I think... :o )

i did draw him by hand. i have a picture on my computer that i used as a basis for the sketch so i looked at that occasionally while i sketched it. took me maybe half an hour at the most to sketch, ink, and remove the pencilwork that was on there. then another two to scan it in :)

I didn't have any caffeine. I just was spaced out drawing all these shards of glass, and going quite mad, I might add.

Though a good cup of Chinese tea tends to work well for staying up. Problem is, they last like, 12 hours before you can have any hope of closing your eyes(least the kind we have here at my home). Another great stay up drink is Thai iced tea, with extra sugar and cream. It only lasts an hour or so, but it's so good you end up drinking about 6 glasses, and each one seems to multiply the effect of the previous ones, so....

What caffeine? :P
